Catalyst 09'

Catalyst 09' baby! It's my first time to catalyst and so far I'm loving it!!! Today was labs and i started out going to Aaron Keyes, Miriam Webster, and Gerrit Gustafson. The 3 of them all talked about the importance of being a worship pastor rather than a worship leader.

Aaron Keyes - Worship pastor at Grace Fellowship Church, in Snellville, Georgia. Worship leaders should transform into worship pastors. Worship leaders lead songs, worship pastors lead people! If your are not connecting with people through the week, your probably just a really good singer. Let the Bible lead. Don't lead by your thoughts...Use scripture!!! A worship leader entertains, a worship pastor grows much fruit! Get the children involved. Their hearts are usually more involved in worship than ours.

Miriam Webster - leads worship for Hillsong Church in Australia. We are here to please God, not man. If everything is done to glorify God, He will honor you. God is longing for us to take authority in worship leading.

Gerrit Gustafson - Its not really yours until you give it away. Has God made me a Worship ADVOCATE?

3 different types of ministry:

Ministry to the world (outreach).

Ministry to one another (edification).

Ministry to the Lord (worship).

David was the worship master! (let everything that BREATHES praise the Lord).

Your church needs to be PASSIONATE ABOUT JESUS!!!

The spirit of worship is either there, or its not.

God does not say to love Him with 3/4 of your heart.

Push off embarrassment. Be enthusiastic!!!!!! Let your whole heart take over!

The 3rd session i went to was with Mike Foster. He was awesome! Co founder of xxx church and co writer of deadly viper. These are my notes from that session.

Stop dreaming and do!

Gods will comes through his word and are not on a magic 8 ball.

God is not sneaky!

4 tips to help you get perspective:

1. See what is right...what is good!

2. Identify what is wrong...and change them!

3. See what is confusing....get clarity!

4. See what is missing

Keys to initiate:

1. We have to overcome our fear of failure!

(God will not make his work made manifest through cowards!)

2. What we do and what we are engaged in, needs to flow from “our story”.

(everyone has a story....USE IT!!!!!!)

(every saint has a past...every sinner has story)

3. Character is the foundation of everything!!!

(you can’t go to a porn show without your wife being ok with it!!) lol

8 key leanings:

1. stop thinking that 501 C3 is the beginning....you don’t need it to serve God!

2. Don’t go alone

3. You won’t replace your salary via “the mission”

4. Design and branding that will

5. Keep it local!!!

6. More growth = more pain!!

7. Nitch yourself...water is not a cause...FOCUS!!!

8. Perfect yourself....simplify!!!

I've gotten to meet a ton of great leaders at catalyst so far who are striving to edify the fame of Jesus. Can't wait for thursday and friday!!
